The format remains the same as last year: 4 hours Endurance for teams of 3 or 4 riders (each using there own bike). Riders can only ride 15 minute sessions. Le Man style start. Our team #42): Rob (CBR 600), Alex (Kawasaki ZX7RR) and Mark (GSX 750R). Before practise started we were warned that 1 or 2 places on the circuit were slippery due rain early in the morning. Which makes my fall half way round the first lap even more disappointing. I lost the front wheel in a slow bend when I thought I was taking it easy :( For the second year in a row Jeroen end up repairing my bike. I missed all of the practise session, which was not good as it was my first time on the bike. ZAC 2nd July Zandvoort Endurance. After practise we decided the Rob should make the start. He did us proud with a good start followed by very respectable lap times. Throughout the day Rob set good and consistent lap times. As you can see from the pictures he had fun racing in what turned out to be a hot and sunny day. Alex was also riding his bike for the first time having taken my ZX7RR over from me. During the race his lap times improved steadily until he was recording his best laptimes ever at Zandvoort. His race came to an end (late in the final hour) when the rear hugger came into contact with the tyre. During my first session I struggled to get to grips with the new bike. I felt to stiff and the power came in completely different to the Kawa. During session 3 I finally began to improve my lap times from very poor to poor. However it all came to a dramatic end. I still have no memory of what happened but I was told that my front wheel was hit by another rider during an overtaking. I was hit from the circuit with me and the bike somersaulting down the track. I miss about 30 mins and remember coming round as I was taken from the Ambulance into the medical centre. A big thanks to everyone that took great care of me. My injuries were limited to a sore right leg but NOTHING BROKEN. A strange way to celebrate my birthday! I know it was very hard on my wife and family. Sorry for giving them a big shock. As a team we did not finish last :) thanks to Rob and Alex!
